No announcement expected today but Rochdale boss and former County defender Jim McNulty looks set to replace Dave Challinor at Edgeley Park. Took Rochdale back into the EFL this season via the National League play-offs after amassing 106 points. #StockportCounty

If bookies have it right and we appoint Jim McNulty as new gaffer. He knows the club (as does his assistant JT) plus the last gaffer we took from them was decent #TheManFromUruguay 💙⚽️💙 #stockportcounty

@PhilB1883 McNulty just signed a 3 year deal with Rochdale. Can’t see him leaving now.

@_SByrne @Scfc5ugc If he goes, he deserves the choice to go, after his record in the last five years. Any chance we can lift Clough from Mansfield??

It's felt a little inevitable in the last few days but I believe Dave Challinor will indeed be leaving #StockportCounty. Speaking for myself, it'll always be hard to replace a serial winner - whether that's in the form of league titles or securing play-off places as a minimum. Challinor will depart as the man who got County back into the EFL, with two league titles to his name. Two play-off final appearances, a Trophy final appearance and one play-off semi-final finish. Successive third place finishes in League One, and has never finished below fourth in five years with the club. A campaign of real adversity (with injuries etc) at times for club and manager, but both now look set for a fresh start. More to follow in the coming days.

We left Salford City 8 years ago after winning 3 promotions. Since then they’ve won 1 promotion, and that was the season after we’d left with the majority of the squad we put together. I do sometimes wonder…

@PKendrickWIG It’s a stupid rule that needs changing immediately. Pulling shirts is very rarely a red card. Majority of players don’t have long hair/dreads so hair pulling is generally done during shirt pulling ‘attempt’ either both are red or neither

Players know that hair pulling in the box will be a penalty and a red card now. What on earth is he thinking there? Can have no complaints.

Congrats to @OfficialBWFC on your promotion today. Best team over the 90 (100 and odd) minutes won. Without VAR not so sure that it’s 1-1 at HT. But second half deserved winners. Wish ALL fellow @StockportCounty fans could understand how far our club has come in a few short years

Has Wembley lost its appeal? Should games such as playoff finals be played elsewhere?? 🤔

@_danhayward01 We’ve been beaten by bigger and better teams than you at Wembley. Enjoy your victory and stop spying on us. If I had been told County would play at Wembley once in my lifetime I’d have died happy. Eighth time coming up and it’s still sweet. PS it would be nice to win there again

Last night at County I wore his scarf for the first time in ages. I’ll wear it at Wembley this time for the play off final. He’d have loved these last few years and I wish he’d have seen them. Fuck, I miss him.

Tons of us will have stories about Harry being awkward, but we should celebrate his loyalty and care to just ensure Ramsbottom United have been in the best possible position for over half a century. At least picture him and celebrate him. Happy retirement, Harry. 3/3

I feel a little sad at "moving forward" rather than celebrating 60 years (!!!) of chairmanship of one of the loveliest and most sustainable non-league clubs in the north west. Harry's a prickly character, he wound me up more than we got on but all he did was care for his club 1/3
Ramsbottom United@RamsbottomUtd

𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 After 60 years in charge, Ramsbottom United Chairman Harry Williams has decided the time is right to stand back. Having been instrumental in setting up the club back in 1966, and after what is probably a record-breaking spell as a football club chairman, Harry suggested that the time is right for a new committee to be formed to take the club forward. Former secretary Tony Cunningham explained, “Harry told me he was thinking of stepping back, and after 60 years at the helm, he has certainly earned a break”. “He then suggested we run the club with a new committee, and offered me the position of Vice-Chairman, with the aim of creating that committee. This has now been done, and we are all excited at the prospect of being able to guide the club over the coming years. “As for Harry, he will hopefully still attend matches, but now with the ability to enjoy the games without all the other duties which have restricted his viewing time for so long. “He has deserved to be able to sit in the sponsors lounge, enjoying a couple of ciggies and a couple of beers!” The new committee’s first move was to appoint popular coach Rob Henry as the new club manager following the retirement of former boss Steve Wilkes. Exciting times await for the Rams who have missed out on promotion over the last two seasons, bowing out on both occasions at the play-off stage. Hopes are high among the committee and supporters that Rob and the players will complete the job during the upcoming season.

I was at Bamber Bridge when Rammy won promotion to the NPL Prem. I stood next to him as Bamber got a 95th minute penalty to level. He celebrated the decision and the goal 😂 Rammy went on to win in ET and you know Harry was livid. The tightest man in non-league. 2/3
