september 2024. i started a diary. first entry ends with "see you tomorrow, better philipp." made rules. 7:15 wake up. no snacks. no alcohol. gym every day. tracked everything. rated my wake-ups out of 10. by november: "i am disciplined now. that is what a true man needs." by december: "i could do much more. but i would have to sacrifice some sanity for that." by february i was waking at 5am and crashing by noon. end of 2025 i checked the list. 30 pages a day: checked. no alcohol: checked. working as hard as humanly possible: unchecked. staying humble: unchecked. 524 days. every single entry ends the same way. the routine didn't make me disciplined. writing to my future self every night did. the accountability was never in the rules. it was in the promise.
