@phillipadsmith @drupal @Ghost Hey buddy! 😃 TBF, it is mostly a solved problem but there’s a legacy effect where a lot of people when designing database schemas and forms assume that “foreign” characters are just a potential vulnerability or a giant headache in terms of sanitising and escaping the string.

16 years ago, my friend @phillipadsmith filed a bug report on @drupal with regards to apostrophes in usernames. He and I worked with others developers to find a solution and successfully tested a working patch. 16 years later drupal sites are still failing.drupal.org/node/165226
