Payton's a fun prospect but big project. #Steelers sending Arth to Fargo is definitely noteworthy though. Mike McCarthy the type of guy who can fix Payton's mechanics.

I think the o-line is in a good place. Left guard is uncertain but this team has shown they can draft and develop. Campen/Evans strong hires to coach o-line.

I for one, am a big fan of this. Not much has gone right with the club over the last few years, but this is a move I can get behind. Knows the club, knows the fan base, and provided we can stay up, can build the club back.

@RuytonShrew I can understand that. I’d wondered if it would be a bit too ‘romantic’ to have an ex-player, does a podcast with ex shrews players and lives in the area. But the situation would make it risky

@philljwill I'd have concerns. He's done well at Brackley but they were very well resourced in NLN. Our situation is very different. I'd be concerned about his suitability to walk into a relegation battle, with little or no chance to change the squad at all.

Of names suggested so far, Wild stands out for me. Earned his stripes at Halifax and built a very good team at Barrow, taking them from a 22nd place finish, to finishes of 9th and 8th in successive years.
I take him over Cowan, Coughlan, D Moore, Clarke.
