Today we will officially break ground on The Grand Appeal’s Patient Hotel! 🪏 It’s set to be a landmark day at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children as this pioneering project finally becomes a reality. 🏨 This morning, the ceremonial spade will turn the first soil at the building site with some help from the folks at @jinglejam and Helen Godwin, Mayor of the West of England. @MrNickKnowles @CrossCountryUK Its been this way since at least 2012. I used to go to Birmingham via London from Truro rather than direct just to avoid Cross-country trains. Still 4 coaches on such a long journey, still overcrowded, still expensive.

7 times I’ve now travelled @CrossCountryUK service from Reading to Manchester Piccadilly Always overcrowded & people standing, only twice has there been any access to water, coffee & snacks on an almost 4 hour journey. Standard £24 to a laughable £229 Absolutely hopeless service
