The Cosmic Owl first appears in the ADVENTURE TIME episode “Prisoners Of Love” (2010). If I recall correctly, the inspiration for the owl design came from the reflection of light off a plumbing fixture in the studio restroom - strange but true…

@shiyoonk I think people can’t discern between what’s fresh and what’s stale. And seeing stale art with high “likes” on social media has led people down some boring paths. To me this was the cost of new levels of access and visibility.

As an animation character designer who started in 2007, with the development and access that the internet brought, ironically it feels like there are less different styles in general. Did access to other people’s work develop into less individuation and experimentation?
