@chiragwakaskar @shotbyshaun i’m with you. In my 40 years as a working photographer, I would say 90% of my frames were shot on one of those two lenses. (though if I was using the Nikon, it was a 105 rather than 85 but no matter…)

The first photograph I made, in 1976, that met the level of expectation that I had set for myself, in terms of the kinds of photographs I hoped to make, was “A Man In A Bowler Hat.” It was a classic and almost timeless photograph of a man that looked like it could have been made forty years before. There’s a strain of photography right now that prioritises aesthetics + personal rights over people. Trendy gear, quick shots, instant posts, little thought for the subject. We don’t need more images. We need improved visual literacy + more intention. Say that out loud + suddenly you’re the gatekeeper.
