Paris High's Jasmine Franklin, who led the Lady Cats to a pair of sprint relay gold medals and a win in the 200 meters at the state track meet, has been named to the state coaches Class 4A Super Elite Team.

As anticipated, Iowa Colony wins the 4x400M relay to edge out the Paris Lady Cats in the team totals for the 2024 Class 4A state track & field championships. Final points: Iowa Colony 58 Paris 56 Canyon 52 Frisco Panther Creek 50

Updated Class 4A girls team point totals heading into the 4x400M relay: Paris 56 Frisco Panther Creek 50 Canyon 40 Iowa Colony 38 Canyon and Iowa Colony have entries in the meet's final event; Paris and Panther Creek do not.

The girls 4x400M relay should start around 8:30 pm.

Only 2 events remain on the schedule. Iowa Colony can win the team trophy with a win in the final event, the 4x400M relay, where they are the favorites. The Lady Cats can only watch and hope someone pulls an upset in the final event.

Paris Lady Cat senior Jasmine Franklin repeats as Class 4A state champion in the girls 200 meters with a time of 24.18. The Iowa Colony entry finishes 2nd. Paris regains the team lead with 56 points. Frisco Panther Creek is 2nd at 50, and Iowa Colony 3rd at 38.

Paris still has an entry in the 200 meters, while Iowa Colony has an entry in the 200M and they are the favorites in the point-rich 4x400M relay.

With a win in the 300M hurdles, Frisco Panther Creek now has the team lead at the Class 4A track & field championships with 50 points. Paris is 2nd at 46, and Iowa Colony 3rd with 30. Panther Creek has no more points left to gain, however.

The last event for the Paris Lady Cats will be the 200 meters where senior Jasmine Franklin is the defending state champion and has the top qualifying time this year. It's scheduled for 7:30.

The Paris Lady Cats 4x200M relay takes gold at the Class 4A state track meet. The team of Caroline Gillem, Baleigh Cashion, Shamyia Holt, and Jasmine Franklin clocked in at 1:39.94. The win vaults Paris into the team lead with 46 points, 6 better than Frisco Panther Creek.

Paris Lady Cats senior Baleigh Cashion finished 3rd in the girls 100 meters at the Class 4A state meet with a time of 11.93. Next up is the 4x200M relay where the Lady Cats have the fastest qualifying time.

Paris Lady Cats 4x100M relay team are state champions. The team of Madison Sherwood, Baleigh Cashion, Shamyia Holt, and Jasmine Franklin finished 1st at the Class 4A state track meet with a winning time of 47.32.

Running finals in the Class 4A state track meet start at 5 pm with Paris Lady Cat sprinters entered in 4 events.

Paris High senior Tomas Farr placed 6th today at the Class 4A track & field championships in the boys pole vault with a vault of 13-6.

Senior Tomas Farr was the 5th-place medalist at the 2023 state meet in boys pole vault. His regional-winning vault of 14-6 is tied for the 4th best mark at this year's championships.

In addition to Jasmine Franklin and Baleigh Cashion, the Lady Cats sprint relays include senior Shamyia Holt, sophomore Madison Sherwood, and freshman Caroline Gillem.

Paris High will send several medal contenders to the Class 4A Track & Field state meet tomorrow in Austin. Tomas Farr will be the lone entry on the boys side, while the Lady Cats will send Baleigh Cashion, Jasmine Franklin, Shamyia Holt, Madison Sherwood, and Caroline Gillem.

Paris senior Nya Williams has been named to the Region 2-4A girls All-Region team by the Texas High School Coaches Association.
