@phthalatesDCU lol raising awareness in 2019? The US FDA published a survey of phthalate use in cosmetics as far back as 2010! Their finding? There is limited phthalate use in cosmetics - mostly DEP, DMP and DBP (nail polish). You're 9 years behind. fda.gov/cosmetics/cosm…

@Amalektgh ... Dietary exposure is one of the only exposure routes that is quite well regulated due to the food contact levels legislation. In addition, health impacts of phthalates that are being used as replacements are not yet well studied and so the risks are not yet known

@phthalatesDCU I would recommend reading the EFSA, or FSANZ or FSAI or UK FSA detailed scientific risk assessment reports instead. Their conclusions? Phthalate levels in the diet are low and of no health concern to the public.

Phthalates are regulated in food packaging to less than 0.1%, but there are plenty of exposure routes not related to pizza boxes! ec.europa.eu/environment/aa…

@Amalektgh And yet levels seen in urine and other bodily fluids show higher levels than can be attributed to diet, and have been linked with adverse health outcomes - because exposure is not diet alone.
