Two things that left me incredulous (yes I know I shouldn’t be at this stage) from RNZ yesterday. A 15 min iv with a guy from the MSF who came here to lobby the government (remember how MSF used to pride itself on its medical neutrality?) against Israel. There was no challenge or critique. None. No reference to the criticisms of Alain Destexhe, the former secretary general of MSF International about its politicisation. Not ONE mention of Hamas or Hezbollah - for example that MSF itself announced in January that it was suspending operations in Nasser hospital because its staff had seen gunmen (some masked) there or its commandeering of aid. Susie may as well have read out an MSF press release. There was no attempt to get to the truth here. It was pure advocacy by both interviewer and interviewee. Then we had an article about the views of a “peace activist” on NZ’s hypothetical involvement in the Strait of Hormuz. That would be Valerie Morse, known among other things for being charged with terrorism offences for Urewera, burning an NZ flag that the Supreme Court decided was not offensive behaviour, and being part of a group that set off a fake bomb in a Wellington cinema with many elderly Jews in the audience because they were watching a doco about David Ben Gurion.
