DRAMA Some actors in Government are doing things wrongly. After the attention the play by Butere Girls High School had created due to undue publicity surrounding its content and performance, the girls should have been allowed to stage their play at the National level but ranked lowly not to qualify for state gala. I think government should also learn to fit in the cast and ensure unnecessary drama does not play out like it did this morning in Nakuru. Be strategic and avoid creating a mountain out of an anthill. But again, playwrights should be responsible for their actions. You don’t radicalize young citizens in the name of drama. Learners must be taught to be good citizens, they are young and have to grow knowing that there is a country to build without confrontations. Drama festival is a platform for learners to showcase their talents and skills. Playwrights can use the platform to write scripts depicting their characters in the form of literature (hidden meaning) that can leave the audience guessing what the play is all about. But making the script INTENTIONAL and using learners to help settle political scores is unacceptable. There are many platforms to settle political scores, media being one of them, but not by use of students through plays. My take…
