Pine Lake Prep’s Gary Grear is The Observer’s high school basketball player of the week. The 6-foot-3 sophomore scored 27 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, had three assists and three steals in a 68-54 win over Lake Norman Charter on Jan. 30. The previous night, Grear scored 14 points to go with eight rebounds, two steals and one assist in a 65-61 victory at Bradford Prep. Grear is averaging 21 points and 11 rebounds per game for Pine Lake Prep (10-10) this season.
