I don’t like how the power conference teams are just assuming they can strip mine Siena. We have an arena, fan base, NIL, pollsters, best college for getting a job in New York 50 years running. We aren’t your farm system. We are Siena. We hold the doors open until all the heat is gone from the lobby.

Nice win last night for Sean Miller and Texas last night over BYU. It brought to mind a request for @CharlieBakerMA: lift/shorten Book Richardson’s ridiculous 10-yr show cause. Richardson talked about his story, captured in the Open Book documentary, recently on The Putback (1/2)

On the subbing question: Siena had seven scholarship players available. The two off the bench were both freshmen who shoot 35% or worse from the field. A 90-second breather wouldn't have magically made anyone on Siena any less tired down the stretch. G-Mac played it right.

Didn't lose a regular season game. Should have never had to play a game in Dayton. Took advantage anyway in an awesome environment and beat a power-conference team by double digits. Lifetime memory for that fan base. Miami is legitimized, tonight and forever.

If you have the chance to play more college basketball, you should always play more college basketball. 1 more bus ride. 1 more time in the training room getting ankles taped. 1 more layup line. 1 more time in the locker room with your teammates. Choose more ball… always.

That’s awesome, Tom has heard the story from my dad 100 times but we listened to the last few minutes of the Stanford game in the parking lot after CYO practice, we went crazy when they won !! 🏀🔥🏀

The name “Huerter” carries a lot of weight not only in the Capital Region, but in college basketball. Starting with Tom - a Clifton Park native and four-year member of @SienaMBB - and going right down the line with his four kids, the Huerter’s are a family full of Division I players; most notably @KevinHuerter, who was a Maryland standout and is currently with the Detroit Pistons. But keep an eye out for the youngest member of the family, Jillian, who’s making quite the impact with @StagsWBball. Dropping team-best point totals in both the MAAC Tournament semifinal and championship games, Huerter was instrumental in the Stags capturing a 3rd straight conference title last week, which punched their ticket into March Madness! Tom Huerter has family bragging rights as the only member of the household to win an NCAA Tournament game (he and the Saints upset 3rd-seeded Stanford in ‘89), but Jillian now has some leverage as the only Huerter to make consecutive appearances in the big dance! She’ll be looking to join her dad in the win column this weekend, as she and 11th-seeded Fairfield go up against 6th-seeded Notre Dame in the opening round. @JillianHuerter @ShenGirlsHoops @ShenAthletics @MAACHoops @MAACSports

Wyoming coach Sundance Wicks on why his teams will never opt out of a postseason opportunity: “We will always accept an invitation to the National Invitation Tournament. If we don't ever get an NCAA automatic qualifier bid or an at large bid in March Madness, we'll always accept this, because it is our civic duty as basketball coaches of basketball players to normalize playing basketball as long as you can, because that's what we get paid to do nowadays. This is our job. “My wife can't just wake up someday and be like, ‘You know what? I'm gonna opt out of teaching today.’ This is what we need to normalize, and this (NIT) field is outstanding. It is like Mid-Major Madness, and I love it. Kudos to Auburn for accepting the bid. That's outstanding.”

Totally agree coach, can't believe it's still this archaic !! Reg season champ gets auto bid, then some magical run by a 5 seed results in a second for the league, I just don't see the downside... 🏀🔥🏀
Dennis Marshall@mar5hallhoops

I am not a fan of conference tournaments. The regular season champion should get the automatic bid. You were the best team all year. Not for 4 days. Change the rule, regular season champs and conf champs get an automatic bid.Don’t penalize a team for being the best team all year.

Not one of the 387 questions from my kids today was: Dad….can I ask you a question….why would ANYONE suggest the tournament field should expand when the bubble is this impossibly lousy? But, it would have been a great question if they did.

9 years ago, URI basketball won the A10 and Hassan Martin kissed the URI logo center court. That was when college athletes committed to a team for 4 years and become part of the university community. Boy do I miss those days.
