We deployed stricter WAF policies, added rate limiting and CAPTCHA to critical endpoints, and redesigned our referral risk control system. Every attack forces us to harden the platform. The reality of building an AI startup. Right after launch, PipeLLM was hit by a large-scale fraud attack. Over the past two days, we experienced a classic card testing attack. Fraudsters used stolen credit cards to aggressively top up accounts and burn through expensive API compute in a very short time. This activity triggered Stripe’s automated risk protection, which temporarily restricted our payment gateway. Our response was immediate. We traced the attackers through backend logs, blocked their real IP addresses, permanently banned the accounts, revoked all API access, and are proactively refunding suspicious transactions to the legitimate cardholders. Our appeal with Stripe is ongoing, but our priority is clear: protect legitimate developers and refuse to let cybercriminals exploit our platform.
