@NoTweetsForTony @FYPFanzine There is nothing wrong with being a MCO club. It is part of the modern game now. The important thing is that you adhere to the rules regards it. Albeit, there are ways of getting around it. Palace did neither.

@FYPFanzine Just to be clear. NOBODY is denying that Forest are part of an MCO. Not sure why you're pushing the idea that anybody is, as it had zero bearing on the outcome of your appeal.

Palace get punished for not submitting paperwork in time, to mitigate against a situation they weren’t actually in, that even after the event they aren’t actually in. Meanwhile, clubs that are actually MCOs get to play in the competition, in their place. Awfully drafted rules.

I was about 30% confident regarding the appeal. One thing I don’t understand is, even if we have officially been classed as part of an MCO by UEFA/CAS, the key first test for which club should take precedence regarding a place in European competition is whether or not they won their place in it on “sporting merit”. Palace won the FA Cup to qualify for the Europa League, Lyon only got into it because PSG beat Reims in the Coupe de France Final, had Reims won it, they would have been given the Europa League spot; thus meaning Lyon technically haven’t earned their place on “sporting merit”. The whole summer has been an elongated mess; at least the team are still just as impressive on the pitch.
