🚨🤔 | There are TWO schools of thought among the #MUFC hierarchy about the manager succession plan: The first is that Carrick gets the job because he deserves the chance, it goes wrong next season and the United hierarchy are DERIDED for following the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer model. The other is that Carrick is replaced by a more experienced manager, who struggles to adapt and then the hierarchy are accused of trying to fix something that was NOT broken. [@sistoney67]

Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt have 2,187 Manchester United appearances between them and represent standards that United’s current struggling generation should aspire to. You can argue over the manner, wording and frequency of their rhetoric at times but not the content (although Martinez actually does have a decent record against Haaland and the pundits should call out the ownership more often). If United’s current players bridle at some of the criticism... then play better. Michael Carrick sensibly sidestepped questions about the pundits’ comments. Carrick treats press conferences as he played: seeing danger early, closing it down, being precise in his response, giving a measured delivery, always positive. There was insight into his calm temperament in how he didn’t bite on a question about Keane’s barb about his wife Lisa. There was also insight into Keane’s mindset that he hadn’t forgotten a brief squall on social media 12 years ago. Lisa Carrick’s probably too busy with their Foundation helping disadvantaged kids in Greater Manchester and the North-east to worry unduly over Keane’s latest comment. It’s in Michael Carrick’s nature to keep things in perspective – he’s got a rather important game to focus on. He’ll stick to football. #MUFC

🚨🏴 BRAJAN GRUDA HAS GIVEN BRIGHTON THE LEAD IN THE 89TH MINUTE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brighton 2-1 Manchester City.

Foden not in the squad today because he's out helping his mum paint flags on roundabouts

🚨 Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Emiliano Martínez and approached Aston Villa! As exclusively revealed this morning, Dibu is back as concrete option for #MUFC if Lammens deal doesn’t happen. Talks well underway now.

@FabrizioRomano Going for an older keeper makes sense, clearing the pathway for Radek Vitek.

🚨 | #mufc hierarchy fear Ruben Amorim could walk out and leave despite them winning against Burnley yesterday. The higher-ups remain confident that Amorim can turn around the team, but his behaviour has become a cause of concern for them. [@MullockSMirror]

Understand Chelsea have made progress on Alejandro Garnacho in the past 24 hours as they hope to strike a deal for under Manchester United's £50m asking price. Nothing agreed yet between the clubs, but the gulf in valuation is now smaller. All parties still expect the deal to happen.🇦🇷

🚨 | Rúben Amorim is giving serious consideration to recalling André Onana against Fulham. [Samuel Luckhurst, MEN]
