@Malachians Albeit in the context of what’s happened since he left, two full seasons of Ole probably did work out. As will be the case now, whether it works out or not will depend on whether we add the required 4/5 first team players to the squad.

Anyone who is afraid to appoint Carrick because it didn’t work out with Ole should not be in a job there. What’s the thought process? If one caretaker manager didn’t work out years ago then one can’t work out now? It wasn’t because he was a caretaker manager that he failed and whether they give the job to Carrick or not, this should have nothing to do with the decision

Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt have 2,187 Manchester United appearances between them and represent standards that United’s current struggling generation should aspire to. You can argue over the manner, wording and frequency of their rhetoric at times but not the content (although Martinez actually does have a decent record against Haaland and the pundits should call out the ownership more often). If United’s current players bridle at some of the criticism... then play better. Michael Carrick sensibly sidestepped questions about the pundits’ comments. Carrick treats press conferences as he played: seeing danger early, closing it down, being precise in his response, giving a measured delivery, always positive. There was insight into his calm temperament in how he didn’t bite on a question about Keane’s barb about his wife Lisa. There was also insight into Keane’s mindset that he hadn’t forgotten a brief squall on social media 12 years ago. Lisa Carrick’s probably too busy with their Foundation helping disadvantaged kids in Greater Manchester and the North-east to worry unduly over Keane’s latest comment. It’s in Michael Carrick’s nature to keep things in perspective – he’s got a rather important game to focus on. He’ll stick to football. #MUFC

@TheLAMatthews If they need reinforcement and sit on their hands and drift through another 6 months, they will get what they deserve. If getting these players out today opens the door for CM January business then it is not a terrible situation to be in.

@TheLAMatthews It’s not - if, for the first time in living memory - United actually treat the January transfer window as a transfer window and do some work. United play 16 games between now and the next transfer window opening and two of the hardest on paper are in the next 20 days.

I know we only have two competitions to worry about this year, but I do genuinely believe United have seriously hamstrung themselves with not bringing in another central midfielder.
Playing Bruno there doesn't work, which means those two positions SHOULD be for Kobbie, Case and Manu. Now let's imagine one or two of those three players get injured...where do we go? What options do we have?
