This is not a smart counter point. Sorry. Iran maintained the ability to effectively close the strait and used that reality to threaten governments into essentially accepting their terrorism and illegal nuclear weapons program. Trump correctly saw that as unacceptable.

@RLHeinrichs That international waterway was functioning just fine until some amateur hour clowns decided to get involved. Now they’re scuttling away leaving the mess for others to clear up while no doubt claiming victory - which remarkably some morons will believe occurred.

1. Europe is not ready to defend itself from Russia. Whether they have the will aside, they have not yet armed themselves. 2. US has not been defending Europe since WW2 just due to brotherly love. We've done so to deny an adversary hegemony over one of world's wealthiest regions
