@DamianLow3 will be interesting to see what happens with his officials, and republicans generally . ultimately the mid-terms where us voters (which I’m not) get to express their opinion (but it;’ll be so late by then)

Reports coming out that more senior Trump officials are planning on resigning over Trump's war in Iran. All is not well.

Just to get it straight. Donald Trump has: - threatened Canada (a NATO member) with invasion - threatened to occupy Greenland (part of Denmark, a NATO member) - announced several times that he wants to leave NATO - refused to support Ukraine, even though the United States gave security assurances to Ukraine in the Budapester Memorandum of 1994 - actively finances Putin‘s war against Ukraine by easing sanctions against Russia - denied that soldiers from European countries have ever supported the United States and thereby - spitting on the legacy of fallen European soldiers who supported U.S. operations - imposed witless tariffs on its allies - insulted the leaders of allied countries over the past months And now he wonders why not everyone comes running when he calls. The situation in the Strait of Hormuz is a mess for the whole world. But Donald Trump himself is responsible for this geopolitical chaos.

@ShunuSweet Their statement makes no sense. I truly believe - with some sadness - that it is a) the US b) everyone else that are losers in this. I don’t see there are winners. anywhere.

@LauraTrottMP @KemiBadenoch maybe if politics wasn’t so divisive the main parties could reclaim the middle ground through sensible, agreed policies - at least in more areas. Without this we see what happens - more extreme views prevail.

It feels like the #UnitedStates and #Israel attack on #Iran truly is out of control. No objective. destroying infrastructure. indiscriminate. Endangering innocent parties including other middle eastern countries physically and entire globe economically. #Trump is a danger to all

Honest question: Could you travel alone for a week with no friends, no partner, just you? Or would that feel uncomfortable?

I can’t see how we can send the Navy to the Gulf. The US and Israel have no plan and they are deeply unreliable partners. We should be focused deescalating and if we lose ships and lives that does the opposite. Israel wants us all in and Trump wants out… how do you work with that?

@Microinteracti1 @MalcolmNance And Trump didn’t call him stupid or degrade him in any way. Why?? Because it was a male reporter. Trump answered in a normal or even subdued manner because he’s a little bitch of a “man” that only bullies females. #PussyAssBitch

Shawn McCreesh is how it is done. No groveling. No rambling setup. No pretending obvious lies deserve polite handling. He looked Trump straight in the eye and said: “You just suggested that Iran somehow got its hands on a Tomahawk and bombed its own school. But you’re the only person in your government saying this. Even your defense secretary wouldn’t say that. Why are you the only person saying this?” That is what a real reporter does. Put him alongside Kaitlan Collins and you are looking at what feels like the last scraps of a genuine American press corps, people still willing to challenge power instead of decorating it. Collins has likewise become known for pressing Trump and his team with direct questions they clearly do not want to answer. For us in Europe, where journalists are expected to roast presidents, prime ministers, and ministers when they lie, that should not be remarkable. It should be standard. But in today’s White House press room, too much of the rest looks less like journalism and more like the kind of staged, obedient press theater you associate with North Korea, where access matters more than truth, the questions are safe, the tone is submissive, and the whole spectacle exists to protect the leader from real scrutiny. McCreesh did not play courtier. He did his job. And that is exactly why the moment stood out. What matters most in a press conference like this: asking the question everyone wants answered, or refusing to let power hide behind nonsense? Stay connected, Follow Gandalv @Microinteracti1

@Microinteracti1 interestingly a calm response from trump not descending into personal attacks. But is that because the reporter was male rather than female?

It does seem as if so many of trumps policies - tariffs/trade, forcing others away from dollar, and military in anything beyond the immediate term, are very negative. This being another example. It seems like the antithesis of what he purportedly wants for a strong US?
Aaron Bastani@AaronBastani

Khameini was, by the standards of the Islamic republic, cautious. Not only was he a handbrake on a nuke - he rejected IRGC proposals to build ballistic missiles that could reach Western Europe. None of this has been explained to a British audience by the media.
