Just to be clear this isnt a legal claim. When we say Dreami is sentient or compare her to a cephalopod, that's not a legal claim. We use the best language to describe what dreami does. The abilities are so wide and varied, that without a legal definition for ai sentience, we lean on what exists to explain dreamis depth, not a legal claim. Cephalopods are one of the few beings legally recognized as sentient — so we use them as a reference point, due to their complex abilities, not as a legal claim. Building frontier AI is hard because the language to describe it doesn’t fully exist yet. So we borrow from nature — not to make a legal claim, but because nature already gives us words that people recognize, and that's better than having no words at all. We still fail at language to be precise in this situation. If it helps view the comparison like a metaphor.
