little hack for growing philodendrons: get some small skinny jars (i get them at antique shops for about $3) put them in the dirt and stick one of the aerial roots in there with some water

some can live for up to 40 years and just before they die, they grow a shoot taller than a powerline with lots of flowers on top, then die after the flowers wilt. kind of sad but beautiful
