Another thing they both have in common: both Apollo and Athena are the Gods most frequently found in opposition to Poseidon. In Homer, Apollo stands in opposition to Poseidon when the Gods join the battle before the gates of Troy and Athena obviously is Odysseus's champion while Poseidon is Odysseus's bane. And then we have Athena contending with Poseidon over who will be the patron deity of Athens and of course Athena and Poseidon are in opposition during the war between Atlantis and Athens. I've been trying to understand this because both the Trojan War and the Atlantis-Athens War were said to be metaphors for the War of Souls between rational and irrational souths for perceptible beauty.
