@brhodes I’m amazed. The JCPOA was predicated on the transparency and honesty of the regime. No intercontinental ballistic missles. We’re all surprised they hid their capabilities. You’re right, the best outcome was to do nothing. We should’ve waited until they achieved nuclear weapons.

In the best case scenario, Trump struck a deal to reopen a Strait that was open before the pointless war he started, with the IRGC demonstrating its control over the Strait and potentially extracting fees plus sanctions relief. Thousands of innocents - including hundreds of children - dead in Lebanon and Iran for no reason. U.S. troops killed and wounded. U.S. embassies and bases in the Middle East badly damaged. U.S. standing in the world obliterated. U.S. munitions badly depleted. Hundreds of billions spent. Prices up everywhere. More global economic fallout to come. Putin strengthened and enriched. Just a catastrophic situation even in the best of circumstances. A profoundly shameful episode in American history no matter what happens next.

@GavinNewsom Not sure this chart proves your point. Vance didn't say California had the most gerrymandered map. He simply said it's district construction limits Republican representation. Just because you don't feature in the map doesn't mean that you don't still gerrymander.

Yankees baseball is so boring they have become obsessed with the Mets
Jon from Maspeth@JonFromMaspeth
The Mets are still losers. The franchise. The fans. And Juan Soto. All still losers.

@plattyicee @AdamSchefter Has to be. Gotta think the jets were too scared to have Minshew in the room, would’ve been game over for fields

@krassenstein Do you even research stories before you post them on X? This is a fictional, satirical character on UK tv show.

@danzu72 And yet the Europeans failed to reach an agreement in Paris. It's hard to present an alternative to US protection if Europe can't agree on anything other than "Trump is bad."
English

@PawlowskiMario Brilliant. A continent unable to spend 2.0% of GDP on defense will attend a country on the verge of a le pen victory to discuss European solidarity. Couldn’t write this as a comedy!

THINGS JUST GOT REAL‼️
Macron just called an emergency summit in Paris, and Poland’s Foreign Minister Sikorski is making it clear—Europe is done waiting for the U.S. to get its shit together. This isn’t just a meeting; this is a massive geopolitical shift happening in real-time.
Europe sees what’s happening. Trump is actively sabotaging NATO, playing footsie with Putin, and screwing Ukraine over. Now, Poland, France, and the rest of the EU are stepping the fuck up.
What’s on the table?
•Ukraine’s survival. More weapons, more direct support.
•European defense without the U.S. Because let’s face it, America under Trump is unreliable as fuck.
•Kicking reliance on Washington’s security guarantees to the curb. Europe’s getting ready to hold its own.
Sikorski basically just said, “Europe needs to be strong and united or we’ll get steamrolled by Moscow.” Zelensky is calling for an “Army of Europe” while Russia is massing 150,000 troops in Belarus.
Let that sink in. We are watching history being rewritten right now. If Europe makes a serious move to build its own military power, NATO as we know it could be done.
The world is shifting—fast.

English

@carolvorders Why is the only historical comparison for every era the ‘30’s? Can we never treat our current circumstances as our own and not some forced reflection of Munich?

@AmbJohnBolton Yes, John. Far better to continue a ruinous proxy war against a nuclear power. Conflict with nuclear states is always the responsible choice. Have you ever met a conflict where you were unprepared to spill American blood and treasure?
English

It is unconscionable to allow Russia to assault Ukraine’s sovereignty, recruit enemies like North Korea to aid in their fight, and then sell out the Ukrainians by conceding the loss of their territory and NATO security guarantees or membership. By making these and others concessions before negotiations even started, Trump has effectively surrendered to Putin on Ukraine. 1/3

There should not be a single word translated into any foreign language in the public sector. You live in our country, you speak our language. It is not the British taxpayer’s responsibility to compensate against an individual’s refusal to integrate in any proper way.
