The Ross Mark III was a Canadian straight-pull bolt-action rifle chambered for .303 British and loaded using a five-round stripper clip. It was used by snipers due to its exceptional accuracy, but its length and lack of primary extraction made it unsuitable for trench warfare.

The Gewehr 98 is a manually operated, magazine fed, controlled-feed bolt-action rifle that carries 5 rounds of ammunition in an internal magazine. It first saw combat in the Chinese Boxer Rebellion and was the main German infantry service rifle of WWI.

The Colt–Browning M1895 is an air-cooled, belt-fed, gas-operated machine gun that fires from a closed bolt with a cyclic rate of 450 rounds per minute. It's unusual operating mechanism gave it the nickname 'Potato Digger' during WWI.

The Berthier Modèle 1907/15 was inspired by the Lebel 1886 rifle, and used a three-round en bloc magazine. With this design, both the cartridges and clip were inserted as a unit into a fixed magazine within the rifle and were ejected after being fired.
