@acafanmom I have also been in contingent positions, many of them. Before and after my multiple TT jobs. I sympathize with the sacrifices one has to make for these jobs. That said, our positions are fundamentally not research positions, and I suspect that’s where our takes differ.

@racquelgates I have lots of thoughts on my own physical media collecting mania (~25 years worth). I’ve recently branched backwards into VHS and HD-DVD. In my fifties, I find myself hoarding and cataloging even more. I’d be happy to chat sometime if my experience might be useful for you!

Me and my college roommates watched it religiously. I didn’t have a VCR at the time so I called my parents and had them record it whenever they reran them in marathons. I was deeply invested through the LA and SF seasons then never watched beyond that.

A great thread about an interesting game that I haven’t played yet (but have Kickstarted)! I teach an Interactive Storytelling class that often focuses on mystery games (Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, most notably) and I think Brindlewood Bay is going in that unit as well.

I frequently think about roleplaying games as a medium for entertainment distinct from films, books, etc., and how its particular strengths can be leveraged in game design. The mystery system for Brindlewood Bay is a direct result of this thinking. 1/

DOCTOR STRANGE AND THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS was the first MCU experience I’ve genuinely enjoyed since 2019. It’s a sloppy mess in many ways but it’s interesting, weird, genre-soaked, and kinda gross in spots. Impressive what Raimi got away with for a PG-13 flick.
