For the first time since 2021, no Tawny Owl chicks were found in 25 nest boxes monitored by Sussex Barn Owl Group.☹️🦉 A worrying sign, possibly tied to prey shortages. This is being investigated with other groups. Full article here; tinyurl.com/44pakkhk

My first full day @FI_Obs. The massive cliffs and big seas made for an awe-inspiring walk around the south end. A few nice birds around too, with four Snow Buntings and lingering adult Iceland Gull the highlights. Looking forward to the rest of the season here!

Not much excitement today sadly, as the rain showers continue, but my first Gull-billed Terns of the year were a highlight at Palmones.

@BEACHYBIRDER Normally I only see the rear end of them as I nearly tread on them in The Desert.

@plodingbirder Lovely, I watched some Thrushes do similar this morning, a thrill to see. I don’t see many Woodcock here unfortunately they probably get into some of the more impenetrable cover on the headland when they are passing thro.

Dungeness: Lovely to watch this Woodcock come in off the sea at 09.24 then land in front of the sea watch hide exhausted, it was still resting in the same spot at 12.30.

Dungeness: 3 Yellow-browed Warblers today, also 2 Siberian Chiffchaffs but rarest of all today on the peninsula was a Bullfinch it is certainly the first I have seen at Dungeness this year. Many thanks to @tom_wright16 of the DBO for the calls and messages.
