When I made my account, I went with "not a good Jewish girl" for exactly this reason. I'm tired of being the archetypical platonic ideal of the Western victim. The Holocaust was not about winning approval and pity. It was our failure to understand that Zionism and other systems of power are the Jewish savior. Not assimilation, not a self-effacing minimization of our unique culture and success. But standing before the world and letting them know we are not alone. We protect ourselves and each other, and we look reality dead in the eye and say, bring it on. Fucking try it. We cannot have Tikkun Olam and live to do good works if we do not remember Amalek. If our strength and success makes us the gentiles' enemies, so be it. That is preferable to being their victims.
