@weekends_world I usually weigh things with a scale. ;) .. Less flippant - I rarely take a 200 wt fleece or equivalent unless camping. For backpacking, I'll take a puffy for cold/dry climates & a synth puffy for cold/wet. I have 3/5/7oz down or synth for cold weather use & adjust w temps

@pmagsco For high-output hikes, grid fleece breathes well under a shell; for cold camp, hi-loft shines. Hardface adds abrasion resistance. Wind is fleece’s weak spot. Pair with a light shell. In wet climates, 100-200 wt dries faster. How do you weigh warmth vs moisture?
