I'm super happy to announce that @dotNetCoreShow has been rebranded to The Modern .NET Show, with a shiny new website (including dark mode and everything). Give it a click over at dotnetcore.show

Curiouser and curiouser. I can access the WebUI via Opera GX, but no other browser. My guess is that since it's an unencrypted connection (HTTP rather than HTTPS), all modern browsers block it by default. But I haven't confirmed that.

I'm in need of some #remarkable help. No matter what browser and OS combo I use, I cannot open the WebUI for my Paper Pro. I can use the HTTP API (proving that it's set up correctly), but cannot access the WebUI on the same address. Has anyone else seen this? @remarkablepaper

I seem to have received a package addressed to some Scottish bloke. A "Professor Richard McRichard" I couldn't resist opening it up (being so damnedly intriguing. Turns out it's my, signed copy of the @talkingbottom book

@dracan I can't then ask the LLM questions about "when did I learn about..." or "does this <snippet> apply the lessons from...." It's RAG, which is old hat these days, but very useful.

@dracan This is why when I read books, I manually highlight sections, then a month later, go through the highlights and type them up (actively revisit why I highlighted them) and write up a summary of the lessons. Then have an LLM injest the lot.

The power of active retrieval from memory for learning (over passive re-reading) has cropped up in a few books I've been reading lately. Just realised that this is such a powerful use-case for LLMs! Ask them to quiz you on topics you're learning. A great way to make things stick in long term memory!

So I sit down to a little light Sunday video games, and suddenly @gentlemanrhymer appears as a, rather spiffy looking, enemy...

Not going to say what the episode was about buuuuut... ... Officially the longest podcast episode I have recorded just wrapped up. Over 5 hours straight and we didn't cover everything. -Squidge

@davidfowl A client told me, within the last six months, "we're not going to use EF Core because it's not production ready." I still can't figure out their logic on that one. Some folks wanna C# in hard mode, I guess.

People like to talk smack about EF but it's one of the best ORMs on the planet (if you don't like ORMs this thread isn't for you 😅).
