My pedantic, goose-loving self, internally correcting news articles in error: "It's not 'Canadian wildfires'. It's 'Canada wildfires'."

@ScottGreenfield meh. If procedures are being done, I think the effects of those procedures are free for scrutiny. Do I think there's an actual causal relationship here? Hell no. Still, it'd be nuts (no pun intended) to not study potential side effects.

@BertDalziel Taking our kids into nature as early and often as possible paid dividends later on. We don't necessarily have to find something to "do" on weekends when we can all just pick up and find a trail.

Dear comedians (would-be and established), we don't give a fuck about your mental health diagnoses. "I have ADHD so I act like someone with ADHD" is not a comedy routine. Just being on the stage tells us you're fucked up. Leave your bipolar status a mystery. Tell us some jokes!

@CathyYoung63 Just hedging by putting themselves on the record saying what everybody knows. When push comes to shove, the rats would vote for him again.

@BertDalziel If only. Here it has sat (with Hello Kitty's house, Hot Wheels City, and some sort of car carousel?!), next to the front door, with every intention of being donated to a worthy child...for the past few (or so) months.

Look, if you want to argue about accuracy, fine, but if you're going to tell me she's not beautiful... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@katrosenfield Whichever, really. You know they don't take it that seriously. I'm sure there's probably a word for that, but it doesn't come to mind.

Went to REI with Dr. SJ and was talking to one of the salespeople about jeans. He replied, "you mean dungarees?" When was the last time someone called them dungarees?

@CathyYoung63 The way I understand it, Virgil was cribbing the Odyssey to show that Rome and Julius Caesar were the torch-bearers of the ancient heroic tradition. Romans were both enamored by the Greeks and antagonistic toward their power in the region. "Graecia capta ferum victorem cepit"

I wonder if "Roman Helmet Guy" knows that the Romans generally regarded Odysseus/Ulysses as a bad guy (in The Aeneid, he's repeatedly mentioned as "the inventor of wickedness," "cruel Ulysses," "the maker of lies" and stuff like that)
