We rebuilt the Edge Score from scratch. The original model rated tournament structure. Good — but structure alone doesn't tell you whether *you* should play it. v2 separates Structure Score from Playability Score, then combines them for the player who's actually choosing events. Now scoring: all WSOP bracelets, dailies, and sats + Wynn, Venetian, MGM, Orleans, and South Point. Free cheat sheet with picks across all buy-in tiers: 🔗 pokercircuit.io/wsop

Woah, that 1st WSOP event is a $456.50+$93.50! A 20.5% reg fee for a 30 minute clock monkey event is wild. Add to that, all the max late reggers (10bbs with 65% of the field gone) sniping a 25+% ICM-bump. Recs in from start coz they actually wanna play poker are getting wrecked!

@ryandansiepoker @FPL_Fraudulence @dklappin How can you pay 100% rake and still win something at the end? I see what you’re trying to do, but in terms of communications it is pretty confusing. Any tournament structure sheet will calculate it with the total buy in as denominator

@dklappin WSOP has gone so downhill in many different ways, rake being 1 of them. From lots of terrible dealers to overpriced food to inconsistent floor rulings to blatant favoritism, etc... it is not enjoyable for me anymore and hasn't been for years.

Fully agreed! Unfortunately most recreationals at low stakes won’t have the time or experience to dig into structures (sometimes only provided much later), blind progressions and ratios, late reg policy, etc. And since tourney name, starting stack, and level duration are always highly prominent they’ll make decisions based on that. I believe it would improve the general experience to have a more standardized or transparent convention

I’ve said it for 20 years and likely longer that starting chips are the least important factor in creating a good, deep structure that doesn’t turn into a “crap shoot” deep and at the final table when it should matter the most?
PokerCircuit.io@pokercircuit_io

@SavagePoker I think the tourney definitions are important. We have tourneys this year calling themselves “Monster Stack” with 50K starting chips at 200/300. A lot of recs will only notice the name and the 50K, without seeing this is 166BB. For reference WSOP Monster Stack (also 50K) = 250BB.

I hear people call tournaments with 30 and 40 minute levels “turbos” which is of course ridiculous. For me 15 minutes is a turbo 20 minutes is a daily 30+ doesn’t need a description I also will never use 25/35/45/75 minute levels. Always 15/20/30/40/60/90/120 Also, “deep stack” is now tough to define because I can make a tournament with 1,000 in chips a better deeper structure than one with 100,000 very easily. @PokerBabeBoss at @BorgataPoker wants these definitions but I don’t think it makes sense.
Mule@HighlandFox

@SavagePoker @PokerTDA TDA can’t make rules for operators to follow but could have suggested best practices, and attempt to standardize definitions, i.e, what is a turbo, what is a deepstack?

@padspoker Fully agree. There are even some side series during the WSOP where max late reg will get you ~5BB. I created a model to score structures & playability at PokerCircuit.io, and we take this into account

Late registration online shouldn’t be more than 2.5 hours & live shouldn’t be longer than 8 hours. So many people choose to reg at the last second regardless when that second is. The extra entries the field gains for the extra hours doesn’t justify the detriment to the structure

Your #WSOP trip planning got a little sharper. PokerCircuit now flags events when a restart day or final day falls outside your selected trip dates, so you can spot schedule conflicts at a glance. Small feature, big headache saver for summer tournament planning.

Most low/mid stakes tourneys have roughly similar structure (25-40k starting stack, BB stats at 100 or 200). This is easier for everyone involved: organizers can use structure templates and standard chip denominations (economies of scale), players know what to expect and can more easily compare/assess structures too, etc

I think it'd be cool if whatever the buyin was for a tourney, that's how many chips you start with. How did we start getting such high chip denominations. We could literally just take off all the zeros which I think it's how they use to be years ago. I guess it's supposed to make it more exciting? At the WSOP Bahamas Super Main Event final table the stacks reached over 1 billion 🤣

@GNLVpoker Thanks for sharing this guys - the schedule is listed at PokerCircuit.io! Quick check: $400 5 Game Draw Mix says June 25 in the schedule print, but June 11 in the structure sheet.

I analyzed the most popular Vegas summer poker events. A few findings: - $200-$499 events averaged about 18% rake - “Monster Stack” events can start at 150BB or 300BB depending on venue - Max late reg stacks can be ~5BB - Side events are often structurally worse than WSOP
PokerCircuit.io@pokercircuit_io

I scored 1,3K+ Vegas summer poker events across WSOP, Wynn, Venetian, Aria, MGM, Orleans, and South Point. Rake, starting BBs, level length, late-reg depth, re-entry rules, table size, satellites. A few things surprised me.

Satellites are harder to compare than they look. A $135/$150 satellite can look great, but rake on those examples is about 23-26%. Some $1,100 Main Event / Wynn Championship sats looked stronger overall. Scores + cheat sheet: 🌐 pokercircuit.io/wsop-cheat-she…

Side events are not automatically better than WSOP. At $600, WSOP has some strong structures: $600 Ultra Stack: 300 BB, 40-min levels $600 Deepstack Championship: 300 BB, 40-min levels But some side-series spots are great too, especially Venetian $1,100 NLH with 200 BB starts.
