BREAKING: Young people are sitting-in at @CBS HQ in NYC urging Moderator @NorahODonnell to include a question about climate change and Hurricane Helene in tonight's VP debate.
The media needs to talk about Hurricane Helene for what it is—Big Oil’s greed destroying our homes.

We see your 1980s reports and raise you the 1965 speech by @APIenergy President Frank Ikard to a big oil conference, warning "time is running out" to "save the world's peoples from the catastrophic consequence of pollution."

Aaron Regunberg@AaronRegunberg
I see @MichaelEMann's 1982 Exxon internal report and raise you a 1980 presentation by API to Exxon, Chevron, and BP predicting that 2.5 degrees of global warming would be so devastating to human civilization it would to bring "world economic growth to a halt."

I thought @ProfBrianCox was sensible. Doesn't he think maybe we need to go about saving our civilization, before exploring the universe? Because we're not going to do it with a collapsed civilization, re: climate change.

@polimatt1 @EliotJacobson I wouldn't rely on google for climate science, or any complex scientific field. No credible scientists still claim sensitivity as low as 1.5°C. The seminal research to date on ECS is Hansen et al, calculating a range of 3.6-6.0°C, 4.8°C ± 1.2°C academic.oup.com/oocc/article/3…
