@poorboywithlyre

my voice moved Hades so he extinguished the fire, I’m who they mean when they proclaim the boy’s a lyre

I like the idea of Gabe having a scar on his abdomen representing the surgery to save him that he never got. That in her delusion he got it and it saved him and that’s why he’s alive

And OF COURSE that’s how a mom would conceptualize her son who she only ever knew as a baby, he’s still a baby to her because that’s all he ever could be

Apparently he’s usually played as like a jock and Jack basically knew he couldn’t be that so he went softer and more clingy but that makes it so much stronger imo like you don’t want to hurt him by abandoning him not when he’s crying you just wanna reach out for him and hug him

Jack is so good as Gabe bc he’s got such a comforting presence when he reaches out to Diana with that smile you’re literally happy he’s back like of course he keeps reeling her in he’s so lovable

@yuribambis Him saying that is basically a projection of Diana where when she thinks of him it allows him to “think” and it hurts her when he’s there, but also when he leaves

I wish I hadn’t read the plot summary of next to normal before watching it so I could have experienced all the reveals properly

@fairskyabove THE IMAGE Greek words are pluralized with an i at the end not and s so as a Greek name it would be Orphei

@milkyvichjc I think it’s bc Diana isnt just stuck on the age he’d be now, but also the age when he died, and all the ages he never got to be But also a lot of the end is from Dan’s perspective, so his perception of Gabe would be more like him as a baby bc he never hallucinated him as older

I don’t know if it’s just me but seeing the progression of Gabe through N2N we see him de-age practically from the 18 year old from the start to the 8 month old by the end, like from moving and talking about to not having any words and constantly being on his knees

Next to normal is basically just a depiction of me living in my delusion that Jack is still in Hadestown

My friend told me sometimes with mental illness you can age regress mentally to teen ages like it’s not just feeling like a little kid and I think I have that tbh

One thing I love about n2n is bc it feels real especially in act 2. knowing act 2 was almost entirely improved is so brilliant. the choices the characters make make sense and feel like something they would do
