Americans at best only had temporary imperialist prosperity which is now gone because imperialism always turns inwards

Had it not been for the Ghassanid evangelism, Lakhm would still would have survived. Had it not been for the Eastern Roman attempts to convert Khusrau, he never would have become that paranoid. Had it not been for Catholic Church's demands for conversion into Catholic Church and refusing aid till it's done, Eastern Roman Empire would have survived. The Portuguese attempts to forcibly convert the Syriacs is legendary. Crusades which destroyed the interreligious cohesion in Middle East were equally momentous.
