Today will be a day that I remember forever. As President Biden finished speaking at the Safer Communities Summit he let us know that he could only take pictures in front of sections of the auditorium due to an incoming storm. As he walked around the front isle to take the group photos he saw me and the picture of my pops who was murdered. He gave me the Joe Biden look, (IYKYK) grabbed my shoulder, looked me in my eyes and said “You know It’s fathers day”.. there was some more conversation, he grabbed and held the picture of my dad and made his WH photographers take a picture with me and the photo of my dad. He looked at me and said “you are his twin” as he walked away. I was speechless and I still can’t believe it. President Biden is one of the most genuine elected officials you can ever meet and he will listen to you and your story. I can’t wait to get that picture… It’ll be framed and saved forever. Out of the times that I’ve met and talked to him this day is by far the most special. Happy Father’s Day to my pops and happy Father’s Day to Joe Biden. #SaferCommunitiesSummit

I’m thinking about @GabbyGiffords — her grit, her determination, & her refusal to let violence define her life. I’m thinking about the strength of the Tucson shooting survivors & the 6 who were killed 15 years ago today. They mattered and they are missed. They’re why we fight.

How can we, as a country, celebrate Christmas while families are being torn apart right in front of us? Joy and togetherness for some, devastation and separation for others. It’s just not right. I have no words. Only grief, outrage, and disgust.

All of these videos of ICE in Columbus are absolutely heartbreaking. I cannot begin to imagine the fear and pain these families are enduring. This administration’s cruelty is on full display and folks are turning a blind eye
