@powerfulbadeeu My problem is the smell. Fish or Crayfish especially will spoil your clothes unless you wash them immediately on arrival.

I’m not a prophet of doom, but anytime any of my mentee is leaving Nigeria for the first time overseas, I always advise that they do not keep all their eggs in one basket- No such thing as 23kg- Food, other 23kg- Clothes. It’ll be depressing if any of the bags got missing & you can’t retrieve it for weeks, what’ll you be eating/wearing?. I always prefer it’s split, food & clothes in both. One day, I was proved right, one of the bags got missing, never retrieved till date, only compensation given, however, the other bag contain a mixture of clothes/foods. Sad situation but it’s what it’s. How on earth is a JJC expected to navigate the first few weeks in a new country with no clothes. NB- Till date, I adopt same method too.

Lawyers are no immune to comprehension too.
Bitto Keren K Esq.@KerenKBitto

Gani Fawehinmi, SAN Folake Solanke, SAN Chief Rotimi Williams, SAN Chief Emeka Ozoani, SAN The list of Senior Advocates who didn’t make a first class are legion. Coming to young lawyers Firms like Law Corridor, FO Legal and many other law firms doing well were established by lawyers who did not have a first class. Case Radar (which you most likely used in law school) was founded by my set mate Agbo and he did not get a first class. I did not get a first class either but I am practically having to daily refer clients to other lawyers because I am on some very demanding retainers which won’t allow me give new briefs the needed attention and my office lawyers too are very occupied with other on going matters in Abuja. The pay is not in naira and I can confidently tell you that some are more than the annual salary of tier 1. You haven’t been called to bar and yet you’re already making remarks on practice that you haven’t even started because you made a first class? Does your degree make you more knowledgeable than the learned silks and justices who didn’t make first class? Are you better skilled in practice than your seniors running their own firms which you and your mates will apply to? This is a very crass and uncouth statement to make. A fact known to all in practice and with living and deceased examples to this effect, a little boy who hasn’t even been called is calling it “idiotic” because he made a first class thus he feels greater than those who are ahead of him in practice and see this fact daily. lol. Don’t let arrogance and pride close doors for you. A first class is not a ticket to success that gives you liberty to insult your seniors and call a known fact idiotic.
