At last, here it is! Our work on rebounds in epidemics is out in NPJ Complexity. In it we discuss under what circumstances the abrupt end of a vaccination campaign can lead to unexpected resurgences in the incidence. Check it out!
Alex Arenas@_AlexArenas

Our paper on the "Rebound in epidemic control: how misaligned vaccination timing amplifies infection peaks", is now published in npj Complexity. Collaboration wt great team @pppiergiorgio, @SergioGomezJ, and @claragranell, Excited to share these insights! bit.ly/3Z7V8O8

Someone in my community discord pointed out that this might be the only female (or female-coded) cereal mascot. I've been watching a LOT of cereal commercials from the 1950s to 2010s and I'm pretty sure they've all been males. Am I missing one somewhere?
Bloody Disgusting@BDisgusting

Officially announced by General Mills today, Carmella Creeper is the first brand new monster cereal character in 35 YEARS! Carmella is "the long-lost cousin of Franken Berry as well as a zombie DJ with an edgy sound who is always the life of the party."

@KnowingBetterYT I'm not an expert, but I think at some point in history (the council of Trento was a turning point in Italy in this sense) people that previously had no surname were just asked to come up with one. So people chose to go for job, physical appearance or geographical location

In English, a lot of our last names are occupations. Smith, Thatcher, Fletcher, Shoemaker, Baker, Miller, etc. Do other languages do that too? Or are English-speaking countries just obsessed with work to the point that it's our literal identity?

You just have to ask yourself "Is it possible that 100M people live in one city?" If your answer is yes then it's no wonder that the rest of the poll is so messed up

I can almost understand why people overestimate the fraction of ethnical minorities in the US, but how the f*** do you mess up the percentage of people living in New York?
