Outside my happy little bubble, there are plenty of things that are going wrong around people whom I don't know. It's deeply concerning me. One fine day, I will either become completely ignorant and avoid social media, or I will use my privilege to create a positive impact.

@cricketingview It is a bad pitch because it is not just unplayable but dangeous. Good length balls hit Labuschagne's gloves, there were instances where the bounce was way more than expected, and the pitch quickened up on day 2. All these factors along with some insane seam movement

FWIW, this wicket is fine. It's not dangerous to play on. People who think in terms of "good" or "bad" pitches will probably disagree. This wicket is not a lesser test of skills than Adelaide was, or Brisbane was. Its a different test.

@cricketingview If a player however consistently outperforms xG across a large sample size (a season or more than that), it does mean that they are better finishers, or more clinical. Messi has done it in a couple of seasons, notably in 2012. Few kinds of shots are genuinely unstoppable.

This means Haaland is better at getting into scoring positions than pretty much anyone else. The "clinical" stuff is another bit of sporting punditry nonsense. The greatest players are not clinical, they're just basically better. "Clinical" is basically "lucky".
