@Sharat_Chander @Oracle Just letting my mind out, is there a plan to create a Micro Java, forgetting about backwards compatibility and focusing on baking in safer concurrency, functions first class citizens, small memory, native execution, built on #Rustlang 😁?

@AdamBien While creating a new web based application, would you prefer using quarkus over spring boot?

@JackEllis Sounds like a debate I heard about uber vs owning your own car. “Do you own a car? Do you take it for regular servicing? In uber, you outsource maintenance”. Same thing applies here. Another factor would be cost. Do you travel often? How far?

It’s not a $5 VPS. It’s a $5 VPS plus 24/7 monitoring by 1-2 DevOps folks on retainer. If you need uptime. What are you spending to have round the clock server monitoring? 1 or more people on call? We’re staying serverless, FYI, I’m just trying to add reality into the debate.

@gunnarmorling Twitter community could be a good alternative. Mastodon is another good option.

End of an era for spring. You served us well for a while, good friend. But progress waits for no complication. The spoils of faster silicon should be simpler stacks. (This is already the default for new Rails apps!).

Why start with C and Raylib over webdev? 1. The best programmers I know started with C 2. Raylib is a small lib that gets you a windows, graphics, audio, and tons more youll need for game dev without being a full blown engine 3. Game dev teaches you CS concepts the farther you go, which are transferrable 4. Game dev can be simple, starting with arcade game clones 5. There is a market for jobs in C (e.g. embedded) and these jobs generally pay more; going into game dev industry is not necessary 6. Once you have a solid grasp of C and game dev concepts, you can pivot much easier to other industries if youd like 7. Its way more fun

I wonder why #golang architects at google might have decided to keep “nil” in the language despite NullPointer considered as a billion dollar mistake.

It could be tricky optimising #SQL flows, specially when you are dealing with bulk inserts on auto increment columns and trying to use the newly inserted ids to do something else.

@javacodegeeks Struts in 2024? Even spring can be heavy in cloud and hibernate is only used in maintained projects (no new development) as far as I know.
