Sigh. Son who is about to graduate from Exeter with a good law degree has sent off 150 applications for summer work, internships, experience. His CV looks good. Results are good. Very personable. Scrubs up well. Loads of mini pupillage experience. Some of the applications are for unpaid work. Most don’t bother replying. None give feedback. The opportunities for young people, even law graduates, just aren’t there. It’s heart-breaking.

@Helen_Fields @spikedonline Finding schools that say this is bs. Not finding credible evidence that its true. Pretty par for the course and it'll always guarantee clicks.

@Helen_Fields @FergusOldBoy As it happens, judges in fact work many extra hours. They fear being appealed and simply getting it wrong so to say they are bone idle only reflects your lack of insight.

Utter, utter drivel. Maybe you were a police officer, but that gives you very little insight into the working of a court. Solicitors cannot ask for adjournments without an excellent reason that they can back up with facts, or be at risk of a wasted costs order. Judges work many more hours than they are paid for. It’s generally an awful job, hugely stressful, and everyone is trying to do their absolute best. I don’t know what your angle is here, but it’s not based on fact.

Having spent more than thirty years as a cop, giving evidence in court. The problem is nothing to do with juries. Nothing whatsoever. Bone idle judges working a tiny amount of hours a week and the biggest problem, solicitors on both sides constantly calling for delays on the most frivolous reasons, often just wear down victims and witnesses. What is Lammy going to do about that? Sweet F A. He either doesn’t understand the legal system which is quite plausible or it’s just to begin the elimination a jury of your peers.

Want to understand the government’s plans to abolish juries for thousands of criminal cases? Ask them for the evidence supporting those plans. There is none. That’s all you need to understand.

After the utter stark-raving success of setting my 9 year-old daughter's previous lyrics to AI music, she wrote another one. Again the lyrics look a bit weird written down, but that's how they came out of her mind, straight on to the page, without thinking about a tune along the way. She's picked this up incredibly quickly. I'd always been puzzled by song-writing relationships like that between Elton John and Bernie Taupin, where Bernie would write the lyrics in isolation, and then Elton would set them to music afterwards. I'd always thought that lyrics and music could and should only come into being together, one adapting and twisting around the other as they come into existence. And yet here is an AI music generator which can take pretty much any words, and find a great melody, regardless of whether they look like they're going scan. Case in point: my daughter wanted to know what line could rhyme with "tall like a skyscaper". "Is there such a word as 'violator'?", she asked. "Well, yes...", I replied, "but I'm not sure it would go with the rest of the song." Shows what I know. That section turns out to be my favourite part. GEEK DETAILS: Again, the song generator uses artistic licence on the original lyrics, adding its own ad-libs and repeated lines. And the skyscraper/violator line is one example of some really catchy melodies, which don't quite go where you expect.

I want to share a joyous side-project with you... Last year my 8-year old daughter and I started making some AI-songs, all sung by the band she invented. CLAWS are a five-piece, part-human, part-animal rock group: Celine is on drums Lydia is on vocals Angel's on flute Wester goes wild on lead guitar Satona joins Lydia on vocals Eventually we had enough songs for an album, which I put on CD for her last Christmas. And now we've decided it's time for CLAWS's second album. A lot has improved since the first attempts - the AI song models have got better, and I've also learned that I can get more control by using a different LLM to create the lyrics and the song prompt suggestions. So here's the first song from CLAWS's second album. And I have to say, it's a banger. GEEK DETAILS: Yes, it's a simple four-chord song, but - well - they work. I don't know whether certain style prompts will always lead to these chord progressions, but I do try and get it to deviate later in the album (with limited success). When asking the LLM for lyrics, I explained the make-up of the band, and that this should be the first song on the second album. A joyous, celebratory return, asking if the audience had missed them. This song popped right out, and I can't really fault it.

There is no credible evidence of Muslims in the UK pushing for a nationwide bacon ban. Searches across news sources and social media reveal only unsubstantiated claims, often linked to misinformation about local councils considering plant-based options for inclusivity, not religious demands. Such rumors appear exaggerated or fabricated.

@SkyNewsBreak .. and yet morons fall in to the easy trap of labeling them as greedy without understanding what the average doctor is paid. We give them lots of responsibility but not the pay. We act like they "owe" it to society to work long hours for poor pay

@SkyNewsBreak We lose so many doctors every year to the USA and Australia. We pay our doctors a low salary given that they've spent 5 years in medical school and had to get at least an A* AA in their A levels to get there only to compete with other very clever students. Then we pay peanuts
