@HowToAI_ The only company among Big Tech who doesn't chase fads...they didn't overhire during COVID, they are not jumping into this AI scam. The Zen focus that Steve Jobs advocated is still alive.

How To AI@HowToAI_·
Apple has published a paper with a devastating title: “The Illusion of Thinking” It argues that AI models, no matter how brilliant they may seem, do not understand what they are doing. They do not solve problems. They do not reason. They merely generate text word by word, trying to sound coherent. Apple tested the most advanced reasoning models in the world on controlled puzzle environments. They tore open the internal "thinking" traces. What they found shatters the narrative that we are getting closer to AGI. Current models don't scale with complexity. They have a hard mathematical cliff. And they do not degrade gracefully. They collapse. But here is the most unsettling part. When a problem gets too complex, the AI doesn't use its remaining compute to try harder. It just gives up. Its reasoning effort actually declines. It stops thinking and starts guessing. Then Apple ran the experiment that closes the casket on the reasoning debate. They gave the AI the exact, step-by-step algorithm to solve the puzzle. The cheat codes. All the AI had to do was follow the instructions. It couldn't do it. Performance didn't improve at all. When the complexity gets high enough, these models fail because they cannot actually execute a logical sequence. They are not reasoning. They are just pattern matching. When you give them a simple problem, they overthink. When you give them a hard problem, they collapse. Paper: The Illusion of Thinking, Apple, 2025

@Ambar_SIFF_MRA This is how women work internally, get over it and act accordingly. It's based on evolution and survival (yes, we are still animals after all). Also, we can remove an ex from our mind in half a second, while men take months if not years to move on.

@Richard60756266 @cnni Tourism is the worst industry that a country can depend on. Long-term it's better to suffer some pain and pivot to "real" industries (producing real things, not being a theme park for white trash pedos).

@SnBn750639 @BBCWorld Be careful what you wish for. Viets are not doormats like us Thai. They kicked the ass of the French first and the Americans afterwards. The human trash who is used to behave like animals in Thailand will quickly end up in a jail in Vietnam.

@BBCWorld If a Thai tourist tries to enter the US to be a "digital nomad" (which actually means "working illegally" from a coffee shop), they get sent to an ICE concentration camp, deported in chains and banned for 10 years. Thailand should do the same to US digital nomads.

🇹🇭 BIG VISA CHANGE! Thailand has officially scrapped the 60-day visa-free stay scheme for citizens of 90 countries. The government says most travellers will now return to the previous 30-day limit instead. Officials say the move is linked to security and economic concerns, while a new country-by-country visa review is now underway.

Why is there suddenly such an aggressive push against American data centers and AI infrastructure? After seeing a major spike in coordinated opposition campaigns around our Utah projects, we conducted a digital audit and traced a large amount of the activity back to an organization called Alliance for a Better Utah, which has been pushing misinformation throughout Box Elder County about our data center developments. What’s even more concerning is where the funding appears to originate. After reviewing IRS Form 990 filings and tracing the network behind it, the money appears tied to Chinese linked funding channels connected through an organization called Arabella. Think about the incentive, if China is racing to dominate AI and compute capacity, why wouldn’t they want to slow American infrastructure down?

RESTful APIs may be dead soon. Instead, web services may expose a single POST entry point for a prompt. Internally, an AI agent may decide how to interpret it and what to do with the data and the database.

Big Tech companies are sprinting forward, building data centers as fast as they can, sometimes using eminent domain to seize the land by force, making their AI more and more powerful, expanding the technology at lightening speed with no guardrails of any kind at all. Yet none of these tech gurus or any of their apologists have even attempted to explain what exactly all of the millions of people who lose their jobs, and the increasing numbers who lose their homes, all sacrificed on the AI altar, are supposed to do. How does society support millions of unemployed and displaced people? What becomes of a society where algorithms and machines do everything, and a few people become trillionaires while millions more lose everything? There is no answer to any of this. They aren’t even attempting to answer it. Instead we’re simply told that China exists and we have to “beat them” in some unspecified way, in order to achieve some unspecified goal. We’re going to obliterate entire industries, entire categories of jobs all at once, and the only justification anyone can give is “China.” It’s madness.

Sanders and AOC introduced a bill to pause ALL AI data center construction. 300+ local bills filed. Half of planned 2026 data centers facing delays or cancellation. Each one brings billions to local economies. The people who say they want American jobs are trying to block the biggest job creation engine since the interstate highway system.

I now understand why AI will eat the software industry. I used to have a web agency. With Claude over the last 3 days I have built and deployed a system that would have: - Taken 6 months - Cost £150-200k - Required 8 different skill sets I can't design. I can't code. I don't understand SQL, APIs, Cloud Storage - yet Claude has walked me through Github, Supabase, Vercel and it is deployed and working. A 100% custom software system - 3 days, 1 idiot. BLOWN AWAY!

There are few things as lame as dunking on an engineer asking for feedback, esp in public. Honestly, a dev that has asked for feedback *once* in their lives, *in public* is already top 1% or above. Doing it regularly is somewhere too 0.0X% It adds up+makes big differences

We experienced an outage at Coinbase last night, which is never acceptable. The root cause was a room overheating in an AWS datacenter when multiple chillers failed. We design our services to be redundant to downtime in any one AWS Availability Zone (AZ), and most of our systems worked this way last night, but not all. Our centralized exchange did not. Exchanges have unique architectures that optimize for latency and co-location of clients. It is possible to make exchanges resistant to AZ failures, but this can introduce latency delays that are not desirable along with breaking customer co-location. Given this incident, we'll revisit these tradeoffs to ensure we're giving you the best possible venue to trade. At a minimum, the duration of an outage should be able to be reduced considerably when an AZ move is needed. Thank you to the AWS and Coinbase teams for working through the night to mitigate the issue. We’ll share the detailed technical summary once it's ready.
