yes it is. “i’m sorry you got hurt” isn’t. “i’m sorry if i hurt you” already takes on the accountability for hurting them. the “if” would probably be better of as a “that” but other than that this is just fucking stupid and anyone internalising this fucking bullshit is worse off

@windupgemma i’m editing my novel on my own and for the last year, taking away one major addition a few months back, when i added four pages of new writing to the novel, to fix a few weak moments in the plot, my only job has been to do constant proof readings until i stop catching typos.
