🗣️ @VBahensky: We were surprised by the lack of ‘foreign interference definition’. Interference is interjecting yourself in someone else’s affairs in ways which are either unhelpful or unwanted. What makes something an act of interference is its covert or concealed nature.

🗣️ Elena Simanschi: The drone incursions into Poland and Baltic states were programmed by AI. The drones trespassing EU borders was not a mistake, but a result of a deliberative effort.

#ANNCONF 🔵 | We wrapped up our conference with a panel on foreign interference. Our researchers discussed case studies from Poland and Spain, highlighting how our understanding of foreign interference is inherently contextual.

🗣️ Ondřej Rosendorf: Informal initiatives, such as the Responsible AI Summit, are great, but there is hardly any evidence on their influence on state behavior. We cannot be too hopeful that they will turn into legally binding agreements.

🗣️ Alžběta Dvořáková: Certain emerging technologies make it more difficult to hide technologies, which directly challenges one of the key principles of arms control.

#ANNCONF 🔵 | In our first panel, we discussed how emerging technologies, such as AI or drones, may be used both in civilian contexts and in armed conflicts. How does this influence arms control?
