DNF for Isack due to mechanical failure, verstappen got p20 because he lost control and crashed (rear locked), unlucky start, p20-p6 was insane though!

just spent 5 days on a mountain snow hike. If you ever consider hiking, there are some IMPORTANT things you should know because it’s extremely dangerous. If not, feel free to skip this tweet 💘 I wrote this while I was trying to pass time waiting for my flight xd there was a really helpful waiter at my hotel who told me about some recent deaths that happened here in December, related to hiking, to teach me what i should avoid and how dangerous hiking is in this weather Snow can conceal deep pits and sudden cliffs, making falls a real danger, you could lose your trail because of fog, it happened to me twice, there were many bear warning signs, I saw a trail that wasn’t mine and immediately knew it was some kind of animal. No one else could have made it that far into the mountain unless they were as stupid as I was, so I changed direction I shouldn’t have ignored the warning signs 1- Becareful with snow depth The mountain I was hiking on had snow depths of about 70–100cm , so the snow was reaching my waist most of the time. (It becomes Intensely dangerous once the snow is higher than your thighs) I got stuck multiple times, it was so hard to pull myself out but survival instinct kicks in, so I did manage to help myself since I was hiking alone. At this depth, walking is very difficult, the snow is heavy and exhausting. I felt extremely tired, I’m 153 cm, so the snow was especially dangerous for me, If you’re tall, this won’t be as much of a problem, the smaller you are, the more dangerous/hard it gets 2- Never hike at night I did once, and it was so dark that I couldn’t see anything, even with a flashlight. I was freezing the entire time. Also you can’t see if animals are nearby 3- Fog and weather If the fog is really heavy, just stop hiking and go somewhere safe. Visibility is way worse than at night. You could seriously lose your trail and get lost As for the weather, proper clothing helps, but only to a point. The temperature was around –9 to –11°C, this temp at the top of a mountain with strong wind makes it feel like -20 and no matter how well I was dressed, I felt constant, painful cold, especially in my hands. They went numb for most of the hike and turned blue at some point, so keep that in mind. (It’s not the same for everyone, if you have more bodyfat, you might feel warmer) 4- Emergency Make sure your phone is fully charged and carry multiple power banks, mine stopped working because of the cold. In case of any emergency, you must have a fully charged phone, but it’s really important to tell someone that you’re going for a hike, direction and your return time. Don’t rely on your phone because it keeps shutting down and loses signal. Ask for the emergency number when you arrive at the mountain and save it Whatever happens, don’t fall asleep in the middle of the forest, there will be moments when you feel like your body is shutting down, fight it and keep going. If you fall asleep like I did, you might get hypothermia (esp at night) You’ll wake up more tired, it will be harder to walk again ( DIDNT SLEEP AGAIN AFTER THAT ) I highly recommend hiking with someone, you can hike alone like i did but its 10x dangerous was it worth it? Yes. Even though it was really dangerous and i feel like im half dead, it really really helped my mental Because i was focusing only on surviving Please, please be careful If you want safe hiking: Go to a ski resort, be near people, stay on marked paths, don’t go to the deep forests, avoid night/foggy conditions and don’t hike alone (basically the opposite of what I did). That should be really safe Now I just need some days to recover because I’m not able to walk, got a mild fever, and everything in my body hurts, especially my waist Symptoms will be milder if you’re physically fit, IM NOT That’s it Thanks for reading 💘 Means a lot that you did 💕❤️
