I was at the gym sometime ago back in Nigeria, a lady who frequent thesame gym but never exchanged greetings with me walked up to me and says hi, next, she goes, good morning sir, I own a perfume brand, and I'm here with a few, can I sample them if you don't mind.
I paused for about a minute not saying a word but with an unusual gaze at her. She was getting tensed up, then I said to her, you have been seeing me for the past one week, never have you ever said hi, and the first hi you're saying to me was to sell something to me.
Sorry to hurt your feelings but I value relationships first before business, if I don't know you, I can't transact with you.
The gist is—
Whatever you sell, there exist thousands if not millions of others selling it even at a lower price than the amount you're selling it.
In past years, business was based on what you do.
It graduated to what you do and how well you do it
Right now, furthermore, it grew into what you do, how well you do it and the relationships you have.
Today, business is moving from what you do, how well you do it, your relationships and the community you belong.
As such, people won't only do business with you because you're good at doing it, people won't even do business with you because you know them or they know you, people will only do business with people in their community or what I could refer to as people in their blue & red list (blue meaning — people who bring value to them & red meaning people they love and have common bond with).
That brings me to how the world has evolved.
The internet revolutionalized the way business is done.
I'm sure you know the internet has evolved since its invention from Web1.0 to the age of Ai.
We started with Web1.0 which gave us online access to computers. Which is to say, in the days of web1.0 the computers were the customers.
We evolved to Web2.0 which gave us connection, at this point, people become the customers.
A decade plus ago, we evolved into Web3.0 which gave us ownership, at this point, users became owners.
Right now, we've evolved into the age of Ai, artificial intelligence, as such, users are now computers which is to say, we are in argumentative days where users use computers to enhance their human capabilities.
