@hecubian_devil for me it’s not really rocket science. not-terrible unemployment #s are hiding the slide in labor force participation, ppl just stopped looking. employed ppl can’t get promoted or leave for a new job. AI coming fast. inflation>wage gains. insane corruption of the rich/GOP regime

It is genuinely interesting that American economic sentiment is the lowest *ever*. Lower than the Great Recession! It’s surprising to see so many socialists not really curious about *why* sentiment is so low. Shouldn’t we be eager to understand and explain this?

i've mostly given up on vibecession discourse it's just the same nonsense slop arguments of "i don't care about your stats just look around and tell me things aren't bad" ad infinitum left-wing version of right-wing crime panic

@CameronCorduroy @SteppaSub i’m sorry but “things aren’t as bad as the worst economic catastrophe in the last 90 years therefor people complaining will be made to shut the fuck up” is insane, esp coming from someone as smart as you. still struggling to understand how this attitude helps us win

@SteppaSub 1) they're not worse off than 2008 2) most of the negative sentiment is driven by middle and upper middle class earners

@ImNotOwned @CameronCorduroy the difference is that argument wrt economy is good for us, wrt crime it’s bad for us. the average American will never care about data as much as you. we have to articulate a consistent narrative. most on the right understand this, most lefties think the way you do. thus, we lose

@princedior @CameronCorduroy The economy isn't that bad and economic sentiment is detached from economic data is not political advice. I don't want democrats to say that, just like I don't want them to say "well historically..." on crime.

@ImNotOwned @CameronCorduroy okay! seems we just have fundamental disagreement on how politics works. most ppl vote *entirely* on (often false) perceptions of the economy. folks viewing Trump’s economy as bad is good. simple as that. “cynicism has downsides” is something only our side believes, thus we lose

@princedior @CameronCorduroy I was unemployed last year into this January 100% directly because of Trump. I live in DC where our local recession is 100% because of Trump. The economy is not horrible overall. I just think being honest is important. Permanent cynicism has longterm downsides

@ImNotOwned @CameronCorduroy the economy is horrible, actually. but the reason you’re the “actually!” guy meme is bc you’re too addicted to being smarter than everyone else that you can’t see how, on a purely partisan and cynical level, going after people who criticize Trump’s #1 vulnerability is bad for us

@ImNotOwned @CameronCorduroy you know what, you’re right. people criticizing this Trump economy where jobs are few, underemployment is pervasive, workers are forced to train AI that’ll displace them, costs are up, and the rich and well connected are taking theirs off the top deserve to be chastised. my bad.

@ImNotOwned @CameronCorduroy yep, most of the data from last year came from the previous BLS leadership + following your logic, imagine how bad things really are if Trump’s new leadership admitted we only netted 150k jobs in the whole year. + the *underemployment* evidence + inflation > wage growth etc etc

@ImNotOwned @CameronCorduroy 1. what i said is a quantitative fact. you’re making a different argument, one that hinges on relativity. 2. the entire economy netted like 150,000 jobs in the ENTIRE 2025 lmao. 3. you believe the BLS that Trump explicitly decapitated and installed his own people to run? cool!

@princedior @CameronCorduroy the things you listed are not quantitative fact though. Let's start with the first one, untrue compared to historical hiring data.

@CameronCorduroy @ImNotOwned but i’m struggling to understand why it bothers you SO much that people are unhappy with this Trump economy that, on top of everything being really bad—even if not worse than any time in history—is the most openly corrupt admin in modern history?

@ImNotOwned @CameronCorduroy that’s actually not the same at all bc notice how everything i listed was a quantitative fact? do you not see how “things are bad bc of all these reasons, with data” is not the same as “holy shit it’s the literal great depression 2.0” ?

@ImNotOwned @CameronCorduroy people <30 can’t find a job, people <45 can’t buy a house, gas is up 50%, electricity bills are up, the feds are aggressively enforcing student loan repayment, food is up, new and used cars are more expensive etc etc but Trump’s agencies say everything is fine so it’s fine 👍🏽

Nothing “quiet” about it. We are proud to reverse the DOJ’s weaponization under the Biden administration. We will do everything in our power to make whole those who were persecuted for political purposes. This includes stripping DOJ’s website of partisan propaganda.
Meryl Kornfield@MerylKornfield

The Trump admin is quietly deleting info about the Capitol attack from the DOJ website as it prepares to give funds to J6ers. This week, DOJ deleted a press release about one man with an ongoing child solicitation case who came to the Capitol with bear spray. Before and after:
