@Joydas Constitution made difference in UP ,North. It's no more about states, CM, or protecting turf n undermining allies. It's strategic, fight for protecting Constitution n preserving idea of India. It's late, but must never give up, otherwise staring at bleak future.

@Joydas TMC underestimated extent to which BJP will go to win the elections. Should have closed ranks after deployment of CAPF n prepared for worst, making it fight for democracy. Campaign on 3rd front , taking over India ldrshp, premature. 2024 Campaign with red book

While a lot of analysis is pouring in on what went wrong for TMC in this election, let me zero in on one big factor that has not got enough attention. IPAC. They have been an absolute disaster for their client. Just weeks before the final phase, they basically shut shop. Some will say they were secretly active on the ground, but the fact remains their overall strategy was a complete failure. They misread the data badly. Could not craft campaigns that actually connected with the core TMC voter base. Plenty of proof that a good chunk of those voters simply moved away.
They failed to give the client a realistic picture of what was happening on the ground and build any proper counter to it. Did not manage to pull in new voters into the TMC fold either. The truth is IPAC has always been more into PR for themselves than actual delivery. They put together slick presentations for clients and then use those same campaigns to build their own image. But when it comes to real ground strategy and execution, they have consistently fallen short. And in the process they have pulled down several clients with their advice.
Remember how they made a name in 2014. Prashant Kishore cashed in on that moment for massive personal branding. That was also where the slide for IPAC started. They are still stuck in 2014 mindset, behaving like they are working for BJP. One of the smartest calls Congress made was staying away from aligning with Prashant Kishore at the national level. These guys ride the wave when it comes and then claim they created the ocean itself.
Time after time their overconfidence and outdated playbook has cost parties dearly. This Bengal campaign is just the latest example. Or maybe they are still trying to help BJP. In which case, they were successful in Bengal.

“The figures are damning. Around 91 lakh voters were removed from West Bengal's electoral roll: 63 lakh marked as absent, shifted, deceased or duplicate; a further 27 lakh deleted due to ‘logical discrepancies’--a category created specifically for this state. Of 34.35 lakh appeals filed, only 1,607 names were restored--fewer than 0.05%.
This contrasts with Kerala, where over 98% of flagged voters were restored through a claims process that actually worked.”

In this piece, I explain why we cannot treat or analyze these elections as usual and why they cannot be considered fully legitimate, regardless of how any party performed. economictimes.indiatimes.com/opinion/et-com… via @economictimes

The United States has the largest prison population on earth.
Not per capita.
Total.
More people in cages than China.
More than Russia.
More than every "authoritarian" state it condemns in its annual human rights reports.
1.8 million people.
Disproportionately Black.
Disproportionately poor.
Disproportionately from the zip codes with the worst schools, the fewest jobs, the most abandoned infrastructure.
This is presented as a "criminal justice system."
It functions as a labor system.
Prison labor, paid between 13 cents and $1.15 an hour in most states, produces goods for McDonald's, Walmart, Victoria's Secret, Whole Foods, and the United States military.
The 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery, contains an exception clause:
"Except as punishment for crime."
That exception has never been closed.
It has been expanded.
The plantation did not disappear.
It received a different name and a legal foundation.

🚨Shameful Sight: Woman’s Body Discarded Like Rotting Trash in Patna
Heartbreaking: Humanity has been murdered and dumped in a pile of filth.
The discovery of a woman’s body, covered in brutal injury marks on Punaichak Road No.3, is a gut wrenching sight that should haunt this city.
How can a human life be treated with less dignity than garbage? The video by sushantkmr is a chilling mirror to the absolute lawlessness and cruelty lurking in our streets.
This isn't just a "case" it is a savage blow to the conscience of every citizen.
The forensic team and dog squads are on-site, but Patna doesn't want procedures we want the monsters who did this behind bars NOW

A warning bell, long whispered about, but now impossible to ignore: “we are on a wing and a prayer that the consolidation of this form of Hindutva does not result in deeper exclusion and violence, which is typically the denouement of such nationalisms.”
What is even more concerning is this: “For now, India is in the grip of Hindutva supremacy; it has been sold as a
utopian dream. There is no rival.”
The lack of an alternate, outside the social media echo chamber, is going to cost us all heavily.

Some in the Congress, and others, are gloating about TMC’s loss.
They need to understand this clearly - the theft of Assam and Bengal’s mandate is a big step forward by the BJP in its mission to destroy Indian democracy.
Put petty politics aside. This is not about one party or another. This is about 🇮🇳.

Nobody mentions this, but GNI has had a naval air station, INS Baaz since 2016, & a fine natural harbour exists, in Campbell Bay facing Malacca. For years A&N Command has pleaded for extending the runway & upgrading of harbour to host large aircraft & ships - to no avail.

Have Indian elections fallen below the minimum acceptable threshold of electoral integrity? How can the Opposition refuse to legitimise curated election results without seeming to run away from the battleground? When and where does the Opposition drawthe line, if not now, if not after West Bengal?
My article in the @IndianExpress on the big questions that all of us face after these results.
