On 03.03.2026, Holi cultural programme were organized in Delhi Prisons .In Central Jail No. 02, Tihar, Singer Mika Singh was also invited who celebrated Holi with the inmates by singing songs.. Spectacles were also distributed to the needy inmates .

Tihar Olympics 2026 inaugurated at Central Jail No.1, New Delhi The Inter Jail Winter Sports Competition has begun with inspiring address by Former Indian Cricketer Mr. Madan Lal and Olympic medalist Sh. Ravi Dahiya. The objective of Tihar Olympics is to promote fitness, discipline, and rehabilitation among inmates.

77th Republic Day was celebrated in the Delhi Prisons with valour and full enthusiasm by unfurling of National Flag by DG Prisons in presence of AIG Prisons, DIG Prisons, RMO, All Superintendents, Commandant TSP, Asstt. Comdt., CRPF & ITBP, All Officers and Officials of Prisons Department at Prison Headquarter (Tihar). A combined parade was organized by Delhi Jail, TSP & Paramilitary Forces in the lawns of Prisons Headquarter. Sh. S.B.K. Singh, DG (Prison) in his speech announced a “Government’s remission for Convicts” maintaining good conduct in the jail. This remission varies from 20 days to 90 days for Female convicts and for Male convicts above age of 65 years convicts; and for 15 days to 60 days for other convicts depending upon the sentence period served in the Jail. On this occasion, DG (P) has also mentioned that 37 Lifer Convicts were released on the recommendation of Sentence Reviewing Board. 148 cases were placed before the Board and are in process for placing the decision before the Government. In his speech worthy DG (Prison) also highlighted the following achievements of the Prison Department:- 1. Many Skill Development Programme have been initiated or streamlined for the inmates such as Organic Farming, Animal Husbandry (Cow) and other products prepared in Tihar’s Factroy have been initiated and revamped. Recently, the Prison Department has received to prepare 10,000 School desk from Education Department of GNCTD. 2. To facilitate activities that enhance the skills of inmates, reduce stress, and promote self-reliance, the jail administration has established collaboration and coordination with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) through the creation of the "NGOs in Tihar" website. The aim of this website is to create a transparent, efficient, and systematic process for managing NGOs participation, ensuring that only credible and truly committed organizations are involved for welfare of inmates. 3. In significant step towards modernization in which 100% court appearances of inmates via video conferencing set to begin soon, utilizing 840 video conferencing units. This will significantly reduce the time and Government expenditure involved in transporting inmates to and from the Court. 4. In addition, an e-parole online process has been initiated for faster processing of parole applications for convicted inmates. From now on, parole applications will be processed and disposed of in a shorter time through the e-parole online system. 5. Further, to boost morale of staff, they have been given promotions at regular intervals and other financial benefits on time. In the year 2025, there were 11 Deputy Superintendents-I, 29 Deputy Superintendents-II, 85 Assistant Superintendents, 38 Head Matrons, and 484 Head Warders were promoted. 6. As the Officers and officials of the Prison Department has worked very hard and work with full dedication and commitment. The discipline, sensitivity, and professionalism with which they have discharged their duties, despite limited resources and challenging circumstances, are truly commendable. This year, based on their excellent work in the prison, 8 personnel are being awarded the DG Disc, 17 personnel are receiving AIG/DIG Appreciation, and 21 TSP personnel are also being Honored with AIG/DIG Appreciation. On this occasion, DG (P) also emphasized for participation of inmates in various corrective measures initiated by the Prison Department and promised various new initiatives to be taken up for Reformation, Rehabilitation & Reintegration of the inmates in near future. …………………………………………………………………..

On 16.01.2025, IBJ India, with the support of prison administration, organized a Legal Awareness & Counselling Programme at Muhaiza Ward, Jail No. 3, Tihar. Led by Advocates Ajay Verma, Ajay Raghav, Neeraj Bhardwaj & Akshay Yadav, the session guided undertrial prisoners on bail provisions under BNSS, legal rights, remedies, and access to free legal aid.

In a significant move toward improving the well-being of all the persons who are working in prison department Director General Prisons Shri S B K Singh, IPS took initiative to organise a health awareness session at Prisons Head Quarter, where Dr. Sameer Shrivastava, Chairman of Non-Invasive Cardiology at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, conducted a comprehensive health seminar . The session focused on the critical importance of heart health, preventive measures against cardiovascular diseases, and the role of lifestyle management in high-stress environments. Recognizing that working in such a stressful environment often face unique psychological and physical stressors that can elevate cardiac illness . The lecture covered early warning signs of heart attacks, the impact of tobacco and stress on the heart, and simple daily practices to maintain healthy blood pressure levels. "Prevention is the most powerful tool we have in cardiology," said Dr. Sameer Shrivastava. "In an environment like Tihar, awareness can be life-saving. By educating we can significantly reduce the incidence of sudden cardiac events." Tihar Jail authorities expressed their gratitude for the session, noting that such expert interventions are vital for the reformation and health of the jail staff and their-family.

Delhi: Tihar DG S.B.K. Singh says, "A new gaushala has been inaugurated today by the Lieutenant Governor. Its operations have now begun, and the plan is that whatever revenue is generated from the sale of ghee, buttermilk, or other panchgavya products made from the cows there, a portion of that income will be given to the inmate volunteers working in the gaushala. They will be able to send this money to their families..."

A new Gaushala at Tihar complex and three ICT (Information and communication technology) initiatives were inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena in the presence of Ashish Sood Home Minister, GNCT of Delhi and Senior Officers of GNCT of Delhi. These initiatives are inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it not only an event but a movement that commence India’s rich tradition with modern innovation. It positions Tihar as a centre of learning, compassion and transparency. Gaushala at Tihar will focus on the preserving indigenous cow breeds particularly Sahiwal cows. This will also enable the inmates to generate their income and to support their family with increasing income even while remain in jails. The Gaushala will also provide an opportunity of cow therapy to the inmates who are lonely and don't get visits from family or friends. The second initiative is the digital integration of Tihar baking school and making Tihar products available online through ONDC and “my store” platform so as to enable the Tihar products at door steps. This means people can now have easy access and they can purchase Tihar products from their homes, supporting the inmates and their efforts. The Inventory Management System inaugurated today stream line the management of essential supplies like food, medicine and other essential items. It will enable real time tracking in procuring these items. Also it will create alerts for re-orders and procurements, thereby ensuring transparency, accountability and efficiency in the system. It will strengthen the frame work of smart governance in the present system. In alignment with digital India a new website for NGO in Tihar has been inaugurated today. NGO now can register free of cost through this website and after approval, they can start working on it. Now it will easier for NGOs to work together and upload their activities online on the website. This initiative will bring NGOs together, creating a collaborative effort that benefits inmates.
