@S_J_Lancaster @LTHEchat My challenge with this is when I continually hear especially at PGT level, ‘I pay you a lot of money to deliver what I need so why should I create it?’ What do we do?

@santanuvasant @RosBeaumont @LTHEchat And of course GenAI creates all sorts of environmental issues, as indeed does Blockchain to name another recent trend, because of the computing power needed to support it & consequent demand for electricity #LTHEchat

@james_youdale So don’t you think it would be fair to say that HE doesn’t have a sensible or workable strategy at the moment to achieve sustainable development of GenAI?

#LTHEChat A6 At last , I can say yes. But there is an important caveat - depends how it is used.

A5. Absolutely not. I tested it. Wrote an entirely original piece on assessment. Asked ChatGPT to write piece on same topic. AI detector immediately identified ChatGPT as AI generated. BUT also identified mine as ‘possibly AI generated’. Moral: don’t write well! #LTHEChat

@james_youdale Thought I might at last be able to answer ‘yes’ to a question. Another illusion shattered.

A4 I had cause to ask co-pilot to create a pen picture (of me) and turn that into an image - there is so much that critical appraisal of this photo red flags - fun though #lthechat

@LTHEchat A4 No, quite the opposite, why not use output from GenAI to teach your students about critical thinking skills, by using the often BS it generates, this could be part of an assessment task too. #LTHEChat

@Emmadw @LTHEchat I think some parts of HE could be more easily threatened than primary. GenAI is already having some surprising effects in some sectors.

@LTHEchat #LTHEchat #A3 - maybe, for specialised cases e.g. people in the work place looking to enhance their skill set; if we're talking primary education. Never replace, I hope. Higher Education - not in the near future, longer term, perhaps

#LTHEChat A4 I feel a certain repetition in the air. No, again. To use GenAI effectively you have to become more critical and analytic.

@LTHEchat Q3 #LTHEchat Not if the educators are designing education. GenAI has amazing potential as a tutor and educational helpmate for established and known basics. But education is about meta learning, self regulation, interpersonal ability, skill building, critical thinking, creativity

@LTHEchat A3: Glad to see big NOs! Not anytime soon! AI can enhance learning with personalized feedback, but it can't replace human nuance, experience, empathy, & adaptability. The future lies in human-AI collaboration, not replacement. AI will augment, not eliminate, educators. #lthechat
