I imported a small shipment of personal items electronics and clothes worth about ₦2–3 million through the port.
I expected to pay normal duties and a few minor fees, maybe around ₦100k–₦200k at most.
But during clearance, Customs officials revalued the items, added extra levies, inspection fees, and so called facilitation charges. My agent warned that if I tried to dispute it, the delay would lead to weeks of storage and demürrage costs piling up.
In the end, they demanded over ₦1.5 million just to release the two shipments far beyond what seemed reasonable for something of that size.
I had no choice but to pay, even though it was frustrating and way out of budget, and I still experienced delays before finally receiving my goods.
Is this really how importing works? Do charges usually get this high?

@Web3_thug @Morris_Monye You probably have a bad supplier.
I have lots of suppliers in china and I have never received anything other than what I purchased.

@Morris_Monye They will package rubbish for you. No body should try contacting them. Speaking from experience.
Unless you have someone in China that will go and inspect the goods for you. These Chinese vendors are ruthless.

Moment a Lagos Agbero (Thug) Almost Removed a Man’s Side Mirror In Traffic For Refusing To Give Him Money.
“These Agberos Are Menaces In Lagos. If You Don’t Give Them Money, They Proceed To Damage Something In Your Car. They Target Your Side Mirrors, Car Roof, And Windscreen Chromes. They Can Even Deliberately Scratch Or Hit Your Car Just To Provoke You.”~ Man
