When we start our careers, it feels like we should have the line to success all planned out.
But, if I’ve learned anything the past 10 years, it’s actually a squiggly line of changing direction and stumbling across new interests.
This has been my career so far 👇👩🏻💻
18 → Chose not to go to university, even though teachers told me I’d fail if I didn’t 😅
19 → Finished my Apprenticeship in Digital Marketing, at a time where they paid £120 a week (it’s much better now, I’m told!)
20 → Joined a PR agency after two years as a social media assistant 📝
21 → Worked on the press team for the world's biggest AV Tech Conference.
22 → Brought Digital Marketing services into the traditional PR agency I worked for 🙋🏻♀️
23 → Quit my PR job after four years to freelance. I had my eyes set on working for creators but didn’t know how to get there.
24 → Spent two years working with small business owners, helping them build their personal brand. Grew my own Twitch community to 2k in this time too 🌟
25 → Applied for a job on @AliAbdaal's (YouTuber, 5M Subs) start-up team as a content writer, and spent the next year taking on 6 different roles.
26 → Became Ali’s Head of Socials. I grew his accounts by half a million in 1 year, worked with amazing brand sponsors, and coached hundreds of creators as part of the Part-Time YouTuber Academy 🙏
27 → Quit my job to travel for 6 months while working for new creators. Currently sat writing this on the ninth stop of my trip, in Indonesia.
28 → Soon, the next chapter 🚀
Looking back, a lot of my career has been fuelled by a healthy sense of delusion and a willingness to try and fail.
If 18-year-old Becky knew what was to come, she’d pinch herself.
Try having a look back on what you've done so far. I have to say, this has helped me to feel even more inspired ✨
